Trout fishing is done with four major categories of flies (listed above). These flies all have different purposes and should be fished using different techniques on the water. A nymph should be dead-drifted under the surface, a dry fly floated on top of the surface, and so on. Plus, some entomology and a little about the life cycle of bugs, how fish react to the different stages of bug life, and more pertinent info. This is a great place to get started in fly fishing - know what you're fishing before you get out on the water.
