Steelhead are definitely an interesting fish. It belongs to the same species as rainbow trout, but acts like a salmon, spending part of their lives in the ocean. I knew the chances of catching or seeing a steelhead were low since many people consider it to be the unicorn of fish. My boyfriend, however, has caught a few steelhead in the same river we were fishing, so that gave me a little bit of hope that we might get lucky. So, did we get lucky? Watch and find out!

I am hardly a fishing expert, so this series is meant to be fun and entertaining as I explore Vancouver Island's beautiful rivers, lakes, and of course the ocean.
