Sport fishers and Researchers from UBC have teamed up to explore how fishing gear types and handling practices can influence the survival success of chinook salmon when they are released back into the ocean once caught. The results will hopefully provide recommendations on how selective fisheries are done, which may lead to more fishing opportunities in the future while ensuring the sustainability of British Columbia's Pacific salmon stocks.
