Friday Night Flies - Mickey Finn

The Mickey Finn or simply the "Mickey" is a fly that got its fame in the 30s and 40s. It is a great all around streamer that is typically used for every fish you can think of ie. brook trout, brown trout, gar fish, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, sea trout and steelhead to name a few. The Mickey Finn is "A very durable fly that will take trout, salmon, bass and just about anything that swims." It works very well on both freshly stocked hatchery trout and wild trout. It is clearly an attractor-type pattern rather than being an imitative pattern. It's one of a small handful of old-time classic streamer patterns that can still be found in the modern fly anglers box.
