He Jumped Out of a Plane With 200,000 Dollars... and Vanished

A man in a business suit bought a one-way ticket with cash, ordered a bourbon and soda, and hijacked a Boeing 727. Then he jumped out the back into a rainy night with two hundred thousand dollars. More than fifty years later, the FBI still does not know who he was.

This is the case file on the hijacking of Northwest Orient Flight 305 on November 24, 1971, the man who gave the name Dan Cooper, and the investigation the FBI code-named NORJAK. Everything in this episode comes from the FBI's own public records: its history pages, its case articles, its press release closing the active investigation in 2016, and the typed reports in the FBI Vault.

In this episode: the ticket counter in Portland, the note handed to a flight attendant, the demands for four parachutes and two hundred thousand dollars in twenty-dollar bills, the trade in Seattle, the jump somewhere between Seattle and Reno, why the FBI says the name D.B. Cooper was a mistake created by the press, what the two flight attendants agreed on in their descriptions, the parachutes, the black clip-on tie and the DNA the FBI took from it, why the FBI ruled out Richard McCoy, Duane Weber and Kenneth Christiansen, the eight-year-old boy who found a rotting bundle of the ransom money on the Columbia River in 1980, the French comic book clue, Tom Kaye's experiments on the river, what agent Larry Carr believes happened, and the day in July 2016 when the FBI closed the active investigation after forty-five years.

Which country has the fastest internet in the world? Internet speed by country, August 2026: Singapore leads with a median fixed download of about 463 Mbps, roughly 80 times faster than Afghanistan (5.8 Mbps). The world median is about 130 Mbps.

We fly across a world map of internet speed, continent by continent: the fastest and slowest country on every continent, the typical (median) internet speed by country, which most rankings call the average, compared against the world median, and how long the same 150 GB game takes to download in each.

Download times are best-case calculations at each country's median speed (size × 8 ÷ Mbps); real downloads also depend on servers and overhead. Medians describe a typical test, not every connection in a country.

Sailing the Virgin Islands: Drone Down, Watermaker Out

Sailing the US Virgin Islands brings a drone mishap and a failed watermaker in this episode of Sailing Kelpie. A night flight over our friends' boat TNT goes wrong, and we have to find our DJI Air 2 before we know whether it survived.

Rob's brother Phil joins us around St. Thomas, snorkeling at Trunk Bay on St. John, and exploring Water Island. When our watermaker burns out, Chris and Taylor on TNT make fresh water for both boats so we can keep enjoying the islands together.

Later, we replace the failed watermaker with a SeaWater Pro unit: removing the old equipment, fitting the replacement, and making fresh water again, with a few finishing jobs still to do. This is our real boat project, not a complete installation tutorial.

Why I Went Back to Buenos Aires: This Time With My Family

What is Buenos Aires like when you return after almost 20 years, this time with your wife and young son? In April 2026, I went back to Argentina for a month to explore real estate opportunities and rediscover a city that had stayed with me since college.
My connection with Argentina began long before that, with my grandfather’s fly-fishing adventures in Tierra del Fuego. His stories eventually inspired me to spend a semester in Buenos Aires while studying at Bocconi University.
Years later, after living in nine countries across five continents and building an international career in real estate and finance, I returned with Heather and our one-year-old son.
In this video, I share the personal story behind Spadafora Capital and what it was like to experience Buenos Aires as a husband, father, and real estate professional.
We explore everyday life in Palermo, Recoleta’s architecture and cafés, Puerto Madero’s waterfront, and the Sunday market in San Telmo. Along the way, there are playgrounds, capybaras at Ecoparque, art at MALBA, memorable meals, and five tango shows.
I also explain how experiencing a neighborhood with my family informs the way I assess property: understanding who will live there, what they value, and what makes an area appealing in everyday life.

A Bird Almost Took Out My FPV Drone!

Today I'm taking my iFlight Nazgul Evoque F7 to Niagara Whirlpool, one of the nicest places in Niagara to capture fall colours! The first signs of autumn are starting to show, so I wanted to get out and see what the area looks like from the air.

We start with a flight using the GoPro Mission 1 Pro onboard, and things get a little too close for comfort when a seagull comes inches away from hitting my drone! After that, I switch things up and fly with the DJI Osmo 360 mounted on the drone to capture a different perspective.

The flights turned out great, but the fall colours aren't quite at their peak yet, so I'll have to come back in a week or two to capture the area again. I also had some signal break-up with my DJI O4 Pro until I remembered to enable manual transmission power in the goggles and select my channel.

Overall, it was a great day of flying, and I can't wait to come back when Niagara's fall colours are at their best!
