How to plan a trip | Travelling Planning During Covid | Best places to go for new years in Europe

If you have not been fully vaccinated, you should continue to follow the entry requirements of the country you are travelling to, such as proof of a negative COVID-19 test on arrival. You should carefully research the requirements of your destination country before travelling.

Covid Rules Between Countries :

We are still some way off knowing the full impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is clear that it has required massive trade-offs that will have lasting consequences for the health and care system.

As in many countries, the NHS cancelled all non-urgent, planned surgeries to free up capacity for patients with the virus, contributing to a mounting backlog of health issues that the service will have to address in the pandemic’s wake. But while the government hastily made clear that ‘the NHS is open’ and essential and urgent services must continue, we have seen signs that demand has been suppressed as more patients are now reluctant to go to the hospital, or have had their care cancelled as resources are redirected towards Covid-19.

As the UK resumes elective care, this briefing uses data and resources from the WHO, the European Commission, the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, and the OECD to understand how other countries are handling these issues and what the implications might be for the NHS.

Canada requirements:
The Government of Canada is prohibiting entry to foreign nationals if they have spent any time at all, including in transit, in the following countries within 14 days of travel: South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia, Nigeria, Egypt and Malawi.

The Government has also announced the reintroduction of mandatory testing on arrival in the coming days for all travellers regardless of vaccine status, including Canadian citizens and permanent residents, from all destinations aside from the US. Travellers will also be required to self-isolate pending the result of the test.

Test Requirements for Your Trip:

While planning your travel and directly before departure, please check the test regulations for entry into the country of your desired destination.
Please keep in mind that test regulations for entry and specifications about time periods vary from country to country:

1. Test method (for example PCR or antigen)
2. Earliest possible time for sample collection and analysis
3. Time required from sample collection to test result
Note: Plan enough time for your Test Center visit to ensure timely collection and analysis of the sample!
