My first official fishing fun of 2017. It was a beautiful spring day; mid 50's with a south wind.

I was targeting Coho Salmon and Steelhead from the shores of Lake Superior in Alger County, MI.

Although, I came up empty, it was super nice to finally see some sunshine after months of snow.

My first stop was ended early due to strong winds that limited casting distance, and remaining ice on the shoreline, indicating that water temps were still below ideal conditions for any concentration of fish to be in the area.

I then took a short Belvita break and then moved on to the AuTrain River Mouth. It was my first time fishing that portion of the AuTrain, but although the sandy bottom at the mouth of the river isn't a wonderful place to find fish, I thought I might catch one on its way upstream. No Dice.

I picked up a couple Pasties from AuTrain Grocery (The best Pasties in the UP) and then threw some casts a couple miles upstream before heading home to the wife and kiddo.

Kind of depressing that it is almost May and I haven't hooked in to my first fishy this year, but I know that they can't hide forever.
