Sierra dry flyfishing

Having a little fun on some of the smaller streams near my home. Big, medium, small rivers, we've got it all.

I used a 9.5 ft 5 wt. G. Loomis rod and Galvan reel. 7.5 foot leaders will be quite long enough, and I taper it down to 6x for these smaller presentations. These smaller fish are all wild, no hatchery fish, and come to the fly well. I don't do too much "match the hatch" for these fish as they are very opportunistic and not to snobby like their buddies on Hot or Hat Creek. Size 18 Humpy's or a Parachute Adams is just the ticket, which is what I mainly use here.

Please stay tuned. Small streamin' is fun, but there's nothing like double hauling 80 and 90 feet of line, or single hand spey casting over a much larger river. That's coming up. 6x???? Fageddaboudit!! 10 ft Scott SAS 8 wt rod with good ole' Maxima tapered down to 10 lb test. Has a much different feel than the set up you see here in this video. I'll also have my spey rod with me in case my shoulders just can't stand up to the rigors, so please check back in.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy!! Tight lines everyone!!
