Fished for Hucho for 2.5 days in Slovenia.. Never knew there was such a thing as a Hucho... Family holiday obligations brought me to Italy where my Mom (in the military) is currently stationed. I wanted to fish while there but Italy makes it very hard for Foreigners to fish legally, Slovenia some how seemed like the move.

Hucho season runs Nov-Feb, they are the only species of fish you can legally fish for in these streams of Slovenia in the winter, and the only time you can use spin gear during the season.. Mid size artificials like crankbaits and soft plastics are used... We fished 3 different rivers, or perhaps 3 different sections of the same river, I honestly don't know, but each had their own fishery going... with the smallest river being the best for numbers and the biggest being best for size... The Hucho species is generally overfished and finding large specimens is difficult.
