Niagara River Trout Fishing

New York's Niagara River is one of the most productive salmon, trout and steelhead fisheries in the Great Lakes. In the winter and spring the river can be plugged with lake trout as the species migrate out of Lake Ontario to feed on smelt and other baitfish. Armed with live Chartreuse Fire Dye minnows we filmed this episode of Pautzke Outdoors to show off the region's excellent laker population.

The live Chartreuse Fire Dye minnows enabled us to target multiple species, although there were so many lakers in the system it was tough getting past their aggression to catch steelhead.
