Temperatures have PLUNGED! This is probably my last crack at open water steelhead fishing on lake Superior tributaries for 2019. The Chippewa River is located about 45 minutes north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and is one of the most popular lake Superior steelhead fishing rivers north of Sault Ste Marie.. Access to steelhead and salmon fishing spots can be found right on Hwy 17 North. Fishing the Chippewa River can be great in both spring and fall for lake superior salmon and steelhead. The Chippewa River can be a very popular steelhead and salmon fishing spot, and is best fished through the week if you don't like crowds.
