Carp fishing: How to thread rig tubing the easy way

Here are some tips to easily thread your carp line through rig tubing and to setup your rig tubing safely. I use Korda Dark Matter but you can use this method with any length or quality brand of rig tubing.

Rig tubing is essential for carp fishing safely as it protects the last section of your mainline and protects the fish. If you have used rig tubing before on a fishing session, you may have found that it’s sometimes really difficult to get your line through it.

In this video, I show you my technique for easily threading rig tubing. Here’s what I’m using:
Rapala scissors
Berkley Big Game as mainline
Korda Dark Matter for rig tube

I also demonstrate Rig Marole’s Freefall Rig Tube in 1m bore (not the micro bore). It’s great tubing, the easiest to thread, hangs beautifully over contours but it is quite expensive and it doesn’t work well with inline leads.

Once your tubing has been in the water, it’ll pick up debris and silt and if you take it off your mainline to re-use it, it’ll be extremely difficult to re-thread. So, I also show you a simple trick to avoid re-threading tubing. I also go through what you shouldn’t do when threading tubing and how to safely fish with rig tubing and avoid creating a death or tether rig.
