Brown Trout and Alewife Fishing in Port Washington

I went off to Port Washington, Wisconsin again, and this time I caught a Brown Trout. I was hoping for a Coho Salmon, which is something I haven't caught. That's fine though, as I jigged and caught some Alewife. Those are little shad - minnows that swim around in the Port Washington Harbor.

Here's how to catch alewife. You get a Sabiki jig, and you jig it up and down right by the walls in the harbor. The alewife shad will swarm the bait, and you'll end up catching them or snagging them that way. It works pretty quickly. I didn't use them as bait. I already caught the Brown Trout by then using a Rapala Husky Jerk lure.

The summer of catching fish continues. I hope to make at least two videos per week. Wish me luck!
