What are the worst invasive species in South Africa? In this video I will be trying to answer that question as I will be going through 5 problem invasive species in South Africa. South Africa is a very beautiful place as it's both known for it's landscapes and it's large native mammal, bird, and reptile species. South Africa has many large animals and a very competitive ecosystem but despite this it is the 5th worst effective country when it comes to invasive species. In this video I will be covering the red eared slider, the European perch, the Himalayan tahr, the largemouth bass, and the red swamp crayfish.

Our first invasive species is the red eared slider. The red eared slider is a very popular pet turtle because of this it is also on the 100 worst invasive species list.

Our next invasive fish is the European perch. The European perch is a very effective predatory fish. The European perch has become a problem in South Africa because it preys on small native fish.

The next invasive species is the Himalayan tahr. The Himalayan tahr is actually vulnerable in it's native rare but has been introduced into many different countries around the world.

Our next invasive fish is the largemouth bass. The largemouth bass is a large predatory fish from north America. The Florida largemouth bass has become a large problem in south Africa as the climate is very similar to that of Florida.

Our final invasive species is the red swamp crayfish. The red swamp crayfish has caused major problems in south Africa as it feeds on many native species and plants.

What species do you think is the worst in south Africa?
